Jersey Has a Creative Scene. You Should Be In It.

Creativity and community without the interstate commute

You don't have to cross a river to find your people. Jersey Creative Lab brings improv, comedy, and creative classes to the heart of Hoboken and Jersey City - built for locals who want to get out, meet people, and actually learn something new.

Whether you've never set foot on a stage or just need a reason to get out of the house, you'll find a welcoming community here that helps you loosen up, laugh more, and feel genuinely excited about what's next.

What We Offer

Improv is one of the easiest, most joyful ways to get out of your head, into a room, and connect with fellow locals. No homework or prep - just bring yourself.

  • Beginner-Friendly Drop-Ins: Low-stakes, high-fun single sessions to try it out.

  • Level 1: Intro to Improv (4 Weeks): Learn the fundamentals of "Yes, And" in a supportive, zero-judgment space.

  • Level 2: Improv Workshop (6 Weeks + Grad Show): Sharpen your skills, build chemistry, and cap it off with a live graduation show.

Where We're Headed (And Why You Should Join Us)

We’re not just running classes - we’re building a real local comedy scene in North Jersey.

Our goal is to create a path where you can start as a total beginner, grow into a confident performer, and eventually join local house teams that perform right here and at comedy festivals across the country.

As Jersey Creative Lab grows, we're expanding what we do—and where we do it:

  • New Programs: Moving into stand-up comedy, screenwriting, and youth programs.

  • Expanding the Map: We love Hoboken and Jersey City, but we're already looking to bring the Lab to other areas of New Jersey soon. There isn't much like this in the area right now, and we're excited to build it with the people who live here.

Community & creativity without a commute

Jersey Creative Lab currently offers beginner-friendly improv workshops for adults in Hoboken and Jersey City who want to try something creative, social, and energizing after work — without trekking into NYC. Whether you're new to the area or just looking to break out of your routine, this is a space to meet people locally, learn a new skill and actually enjoy your weeknights again. We are expanding our program to include advanced improv workshops, kids improv, as well as beginner-friendly workshops in stand-up, sketch, public speaking. Stay tuned!

What is improv?

A creative midweek reset

Nick Carrillo - Instructor, Jersey Improv Lab

Beginner improv is not just about theater or comedy. Its about try something new to break the mundane. Feeling every moment and showing up authentically.

It is creative meditation. You will feel lighter, calmer and less anxious.

When you stop planning what to say next and just react in the moment, the world gets a lot more interesting.

And the workshops are genuinely fun! Beyond the presence and calm, there is a lot of laughter. The kind of deep, silly laughter that only happens when a room full of people are unapologetically themselves.
